First Light on The Granite Dells

Last week I took a few days off for a trip up to Sedona, AZ. My first stop was at Watson Lake, in the Granite Dells of Prescott, AZ. It had been a few years since I photographed in the area and I was hoping for a colorful sunrise over the lake, but by the time the sun peeked over the horizon, any clouds in the area had moved north. Still, I liked the way the warm light of the sun lit up the east facing sides of the boulders, and brilliant green of the new foliage on the trees. I actually had to tone down the green in Photoshop to make it look believable!

  1. This one with its soft light is so different, makes the lake a totally new place on the map. Love the spring green trees dotting the landscape.
