This shot was taken almost an hour after my previous post, looking south from the top of Doe Mountain. I felt that the brightly colored lichen added an attractive contrast to the pink Sedona sandstone. Moments later, the sun sank below the horizon and started getting dark pretty quickly. The entire perimeter of Doe Mountain is just like what you see in this phot0–a vertical drop of probably one hundred feet before the terrain gets level enough to walk down. There’s only one small area where a trail has been created through a narrow passage between two immense boulders. That trail is the only way to get up or down from the top, and I had lost my bearing on where it was located! Needless to say, I found it. You wouldn’t be reading this if I didn’t!
