First Light at Marble Canyon

This shot was taken at one of my favorite places to camp. It’s actually called Marble Canyon Viewpoint, but that’s too long for a title. The Colorado River flows through Marble Canyon as it makes it’s way to The Grand Canyon. The viewpoint itself is an interesting place. Backing up to the edge of the Kaibab National Forest, it’s almost like an empty parking lot that’s covered in small limestone rocks. As the Kaibab Plateau falls away to the valley below, one can see for miles to the north, east, and south. The view is expansive. Barely visible through the morning haze, Marble Canyon lies in the distance on the left side of the photo.
